Dear valued patient of Inwood Family Dental,

It is with mixed emotions that I inform you of some exciting news!  After 26 years in private practice, I have decided to step away from my dental practice effective November 18, 2022.  I recently accepted a fortuitous opportunity to practice at the new Veterans Affairs clinic in Northwest San Antonio.  This is an opportunity I would be remiss to decline, as I once turned down offers to practice in the Navy Nurse Corps and later the Air Force residency program as a young professional.  I am excited for this next phase in my career to support those who have served our country so generously.

Finding an outstanding professional to assume my position has been an important and comprehensive process.  After much diligence, I have selected Dr. Selina F. Gutierrez to take over my practice.  I am confident she will continue to provide the level of service our patients have appreciated all these years.  We both have similar philosophies of providing excellent dental care with compassion and integrity.

Originally from Laredo, Texas, Dr. Gutierrez moved to San Antonio in 2014 to attend dental school at UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry.  In 2018, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree and proceeded to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at UT Health.  In fact, Dr. Luce was Dr. Gutierrez’s residency instructor!  Since then, Dr. Gutierrez has practiced as a general dentist in private practices in San Antonio since 2019. She devotes her time to continuing education and being involved in the community.  In 2020, she served as the local President of the Hispanic Dental Association, and she currently serves on the Board of Directors for the San Antonio District Dental Society. This year, she was nominated for the 2022 Texas Academy of General Dentistry’s New Dentist of the Year award, alongside Dr. Luce who was nominated for the “Old” Dentist of the Year award!

My team has enjoyed getting to know Dr. Gutierrez and I know you will love her.  I highly encourage you and your family to meet her and continue your dental treatment under her excellent care. I hope you can take comfort in knowing that the wonderful staff will be working alongside Dr. Gutierrez.  Our goal is to ensure a smooth transition, while maintaining a commitment to providing quality dental care and the service you expect.  I hope you can show Dr. Gutierrez the same loyalty and friendship that you have shown me all these years.

It has been a privilege and a pleasure to care for you for the past 26 years. You have become like family to me, as we have experienced the joys and heartbreaks of life together.  Thank you for being a part of my practice and for continuing to support us during this transition.  Dr. Gutierrez and the team are looking forward to seeing you at your next appointment.
