Dr. Selina Fuentes Gutierrez was raised in Laredo, Texas, and has lived in San Antonio since 2014. She gained early acceptance into the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2018. She then completed a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at UT Health San Antonio. She was trained in comprehensive restoration of natural teeth, implant surgery, oral and IV moderate sedation, root canal treatments, and complex dental surgeries.
Thereafter, Dr. Gutierrez practiced as an associate dentist in San Antonio for 3 1/2 years. She became further trained in aesthetic and restorative dentistry, Invisalign therapy, and the treatment of sleep apnea and TMJ conditions. She once served as one of the Team Dentists for the San Antonio Spurs and the Rampage Hockey team.
Both in 2022 and 2023, Dr. Gutierrez was nominated for the prestigious Texas Academy of General Dentistry’s New Dentist of the Year Award! She was one of 12 emerging dentists to be selected for this award in the State of Texas. In 2023, she was also named the Academy of General Dentistry’s “10 Dentists to Watch.” She earned these recognitions based on her commitment to continuing education, service, and clinical excellence. She is a member of the San Antonio Women’s Chamber of Commerce and has served as the President of the Greater San Antonio Hispanic Dental Association. She is also a Board of Directors and the Diversity and Inclusion Chair for the San Antonio District Dental Society.
Last but not least, Dr. Gutierrez volunteers regularly providing free dental treatment to the community, mentoring pre-dental students, and helping at the San Antonio Food Bank.
In her free time, Dr. Gutierrez enjoys spending time with her husband, Ramon. They enjoy bike riding, traveling, spending time with family, and participating in their local church.
